Student visa for China: everything you need to know
By Équipe Easy Travel · 5 July 2026 · 1 min read
China has become one of the favorite study destinations for Cameroonian students: world-class universities, affordable tuition and numerous scholarships. Here is the complete path.
Choosing your program and university
Chinese universities offer programs in English, Chinese, or both. The most popular fields: engineering, medicine, international business and computer science. Admission is done online, generally between January and May for the September intake.
Available scholarships
- CSC (China Scholarship Council): the Chinese government scholarship, covering tuition, housing and a monthly allowance.
- Provincial and university scholarships: less known, often more accessible.
- Confucius Institute: for Chinese language students.
A strong scholarship application is prepared 8 to 12 months in advance.
The X1 or X2 student visa
- X1: studies longer than 180 days (bachelor's, master's, PhD).
- X2: short stays (language programs, exchange semesters).
Required documents: passport, JW201/JW202 form, admission letter, medical certificate, proof of funds and criminal record extract.
Budget to plan
Allow between 2.5 and 5 million FCFA for the first year (tuition, housing, flight, visa), excluding scholarships. With a full CSC scholarship, the cost is limited to the flight and application fees.
Our interview tips
The consular interview checks the consistency of your project: be precise about your program, your funding and your plans after graduation. Easy Travel prepares each candidate with mock interviews.
