How to succeed at corporate communication on a budget

Many SME leaders think communication is a luxury reserved for large companies. That's wrong: with method and consistency, a few tens of thousands of FCFA per month is enough for visible results.

Priority 1: the free fundamentals

Before any advertising spend, lock in the basics:

  • Google Maps: a complete business listing with photos and reviews. It's your first storefront.
  • WhatsApp Business: catalog, auto-replies, regular status updates.
  • An active Facebook page: two to three posts per week is enough.

Priority 2: a consistent identity

A clean logo, two colors, one font: consistency matters more than sophistication. A customer should recognize your posts at first glance. This investment, made once, lasts for years.

Priority 3: useful content over advertising

Answer the questions your customers actually ask: usage tips, behind the scenes, testimonials. This content builds trust — and trust sells, especially in Cameroon where word of mouth is king.

Priority 4: measure before you spend

Views, messages received, sales generated: track three numbers per month. You'll then know whether a paid campaign (Meta, billboards) deserves your money and where to invest it.

The mistake to avoid

Inconsistency. A page dead for three months inspires less trust than no page at all. Better one post a week kept up all year than a burst followed by silence.
